Greetings family of God. Many of you have come up to me asking questions about the upcoming election facing our great Nation. Let me first say that Broadman does not support any candidate or party. However, we do support certain issues that face our nation and we do have strong positions on certain issues. There are certain things that I believe are non-negotiable for Christians according to the Scriptures.
Romans 13 is a great passage of Scripture about our responsibility to Government. Our first purpose is to ensure that our Nation is submitted to God. The authority of government comes from God. We are to submit and obey our government when they are submitted to God’s will. So my greatest advise is to vote for the candidate and party that best supports a Biblical Worldview and will demonstrate a government submitted under God’s authority. For when government is submitted to God it is for our good and it is only right to submit to the authority of such government. Remember that no candidate or party is perfect, but some candidates align themselves more so with Biblical principles, values and views than others. This is the place to start.
Secondly, It is our obligation and responsibility to vote…first and foremost vote! It is a sin in my opinion for a Christian note to vote. We have a moral obligation to vote so long as our government allows it.
Thirdly, as you vote keep in mind that we will be held accountable for how we use our vote before God but also by the consequences we will face by those who will lead us based on our vote.
Fourth, (Perhaps the most important issue to me) the character of a candidate - their values and views are the most important aspect to voting. A persons values and views will guide a politicians policies and decisions. Character, values, associations, and judgments do matter!!!! A person’s values and views guides all aspects of their lives. They cannot separate their views and values from their worldview it is a part of who they are and it will determine the decisions they will make and the direction in which they will lead.
I hope this helps. I know that this election I will vote my values based on a Biblical Worldview. I will vote for what is right for America and what is best for my children and future generations. Make no mistake this election is a battle over worldviews. There are huge differences in a greatly divided nation. For the first time in my life I see the America I love and served in jeopardy of loosing the values and freedoms that made her the greatest Nation on God’s green Earth. Regardless I will be faithful to God and continue to be a patroit of this nation guarding her values and freedoms that are given by God. Regardless of the outcome I will pray for God to have mercy upon us if we fail Him and for His blessings to prevail over us if we return to Him. May all Christians and God-fearing citizens rise up to preserve this nation!!!
Issues we stand for that are clear in Scripture: life, marriage, stewardship, integrity, environmental protection (as in we are responsible for our world, not radical ‘green’ agendas), freedom for all nations, freedom to share the Gospel without fear, Judeo-Christian heritage of our nation, scientific creationism as an equal, proper Judicial oversight that supports the consitution not legislating agendas, stem cell research (non-embroynic), accountability of our leaders, personal responsibility among all people, education for all, provisions for the widowed, orphaned, and poor (intentions to help not sustain), equality among all people, combating moral issues (Gambling, Pornography, immorality and so forth)…Life, Liberty and the pursuit of happiness. These are just a few of the many issues that should concern us as Christians…values and views matter. They are what helped form this Nation and they are what will guide us into the future.
God bless you…
